SENIOR ENGINEER - RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (MDS,RATHMALANA)

This role would enable you to assist in generating technological resolutions with deep understanding of contributing variables, deliver sound proposals using convincing communication and work collaboratively with both internal and external partners based on current development methods in order to meet organizational objectives in the most beneficial manner taking the triple bottom-line into account.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend relevant technical meetings on product development and provide comprehensive details on the technology and its constraints to assist in developing technological product

Identify the most effective method of technology product constructions, working with relevant stakeholders to create garments that are in alignment with the design intent and in accordance to the product development process.

Perform the required testing to verify the suitability of proposed combination of adhesive, machine and method for the relevant application/material combination and select required machines and machine settings for development and in-house bulk. 

Manage daily R&D sample room operations to ensure on time sample delivery.

Adhere to critical path at each gate during product development process.

Coordinate all activities pertaining to the preparation of tech packs and SOPs by liaising with relevant technical teams; on time and accurate document submission to the production.

Work with pre-production/production teams to transfer the product development knowledge into bulk production in an effective manner via accurate documentations and in relevant meetings & forums, to facilitate the expected production performance. 

Contribute to factory engagement points for technology product risk assessments. 

Proactively understand technology requirements of new projects & growth platforms and develop innovative approaches in solving technological challenges to generate meaningful resolutions. 

Research & understand adoptable technology and identify potential partners to work with in a collaborative fashion to ensure optimal productivity. 

Consistently collaborate with the Design and Innovation teams on the appropriate solution and value proposition in order to drive objective delivery in a timely & compelling manner.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

B.sc in Chemical & Process engineering or Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering or material science & engineering

3-4 years of relevant work experience

Good language and computer literacy

Good knowledge in technological product development (Bonding and other related technologies)

Basic knowledge on pattern and construction
